 Fun in the Sun

Keep your preschooler active and entertained this summer with our JULY FUN IN THE SUN PROGRAM! Classes will include various field trips, visits to different city parks, & swimming at the wading pool! Reserve your child's spot today!

Ages: Preschoolers 3-5 yrs

*Classes: Wednesdays & Fridays (July 1- July 31) or Thursdays & Fridays (July 2-July 31)

*Times: 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.

*Cost: $80.00 per class

Children must be Potty Trained!

Welcome to the City of Mountain Home’s public Swimming pool! Parents/guardians can now purchase a $5.00 pool pass with the purchase of an individual $45.00 pool pass, and 0 to 5 years old are only $22.50 for a season pass.  Limit is (2) passes per family.  If you have any questions, please call Parks and Recreation @ 587-2112.

Note: 1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. we reserve the entire deep end for lap swim patrons.

 

 

Swimming Lessons

There are five sessions of lessons offered this summer.  Each session consists of 8 half hour classes with no lessons taught on Fridays.  There is a 5 person limit per instructor on all the beginner classes.  All registrations must be taken at the Parks & Recreation office on the Thursday before class starts.  No phone or mail in registrations will be accepted.  Pool water temperature is approximately 85 degrees which makes it very nice and comfortable.  We offer many classes for different ages and skill levels to fit your child's needs.

Pool Parties

The City Pool is available for private pool parties.  Times and prices are listed below.  The fee includes the life guards, pool toys, noodles, water rockets, diving rings, basketballs, kick boards, and locker rooms.  A pool rental agreement must be filled out by the group organizer and the payment made to the Parks & Recreation Office at the time of reservation.  Pool parties are very popular so schedule yours early.  The

following times and days are available.

Friday:

Girls Softball

It is time to get your daughter acquainted with the sport of softball.  This is a great summer activity for your young athlete.  Your daughter will acquire the skills needed to play softball as well as meet new friends.  She will be placed on a team with a volunteer coach and games will be played during the month of June.

8 to 10 year old league

Games are on Mon. & Wed.

The cost is $19.50 and includes a T-Shirt.

 

 

Co-Ed T-Ball

This program is a great way to keep your kids active.  T-ball will enhance their coordination and improve their skills.  Most importantly your child will have FUN!  T-ball is a co-ed league and is divided into a 4&5 year old and a 6&7 year old league.  Your child will be placed on a team with a volunteer coach and games will be played during the month of June.

Ceramic Arts

With Pam Swatzel

Get ready to create a masterpiece in a series of Tuesday evening classes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Pam has created outstanding ceramic pieces for over 12 years and would love for you to join her in this gift giving hobby.  Pre-registration is required to prepare the supplies.

Tree Pruning

Are you tired of looking at that old jumble of limbs and leaves?  Learn to make heads or tails of your landscaping with Jason Tindall who is a certified Arborist.  He will teach you the basics of proper fertilizing and placement of your trees and shrubs.  You will also learn about disease and insect awareness and of course how to properly prune your trees!  Take this class and you may have the best looking and healthiest yard on your block!

Poker Training

Are you intimidated by the poker tables at Jackpot?  Do you revert to the slot machines?  We have your solution!  Rooster and Lisa are experts when it comes to cards and chips and they are ready to share their talent with you.  Various poker games will be covered in this 3-week course so don't forget your poker face.

Wii Bit of fun

To experience a Wii Bit of Fun  the Mountain Home Public Library and Parks and Recreation Department are teaming up to teach adults 50+ how interactive and fun the Nintendo Wii can be.  Come out and experience this fun activity with your friends.  This program is at no cost to you and refreshments will be served, so you really cant go wrong!  Held the second and forth Fridays of every month at the senior citizen center (1000 N 3rd E) from 12:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Call 587-2112 or 587-4716 for more information.

 

Summer Concert Series

In Carl Miller Park

This summer Mountain Home Parks & Recreation and the Mountain Home Arts Council will hold 3 concerts in Carl Miller Park.  The shady park is the ideal spot for an evening concert and the high energy, quality musicians are sure to please. So pack up the family and the lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of great music and fun.  The concerts are funded by generous individuals and businesses throughout the community.   Keep an eye out for this free entertainment in July and August!
